FSC® Certified Recycled: Know The Source

FSC® Certified: Know the source
Much has been made about being “less bad” and that has been a good place to start the conversation. Heppner Hardwoods was in that lane too. But, after 40 years in the woodworking business, 15 of them specializing in flooring, we are taking the lead by manufacturing reclaimed boards into solid and engineered flooring that is Forest Stewardship Council® Certified. Our solid flooring is 100% made in America using 100% American products – we give you “100% all good.“

Don’t Forget About Beauty
Nothing can replicate the beauty, warmth and uniqueness of real wood. Before the green movement, the beauty of wood was most often defined by perfection, now stewards are more inclined to embrace all boards, each with its own unique characteristics. With best practices for production and reclaimed utilization there is less consumption.

Sustainability: More than FSC® Certified Fiber

  • Wood is a carbon neutral product that produces oxygen during its growth cycle and stores carbon during its service life
  • Indoor air quality is better with wood floors
  • Wood floors use less water and energy to produce than other flooring options
  • At the end of its service life, wood flooring can be burned as fuel or recycled
  • Wood floors last hundreds of years, so they won’t need to be replaced as often as other flooring options

Living Futures: Paying it Forward
Sustainability as defined by the International Living Futures Institute aspire to be net positive in their energy, water, material and community impacts. The other side of the movement is one that advocates for lifestyle and building products improvements that create healthy environments where children and families can flourish free of allergens, asthma, mold contaminants, learning disabilities, obesity, cancer and more.

Now FSC® Certified and Reclaimed Are Not Mutually Exclusive
The Chain of Custody Program provides the standards for sourcing reclaimed materials, covering the purchase, verification and classification of reclaimed materials for use in FSC® Certified products and projects.
